HEA Chapters

Local Action, National Impact

HEA chapters bring the health equity movement to campuses and communities — leading local initiatives, hosting events, and building the next generation of equity leaders. Find your chapter and get involved.

A Movement Without Borders

Health disparities don't stop at campus lines, state lines, or national borders — and neither can our movement. Each new chapter extends that reach, building a growing network of students and leaders working to advance health equity in their communities.

Start a Chapter

Bring Health Equity Advocates to Your School

Starting an HEA chapter gives students the opportunity to build leadership experience, develop health equity initiatives, organize educational programming and community events, and work with other students to improve health in their community.

Starting a chapter is simple:

1

Apply to Start a Chapter

Complete the HEA application to express your interest in starting a chapter at your school.

2

Develop Your Chapter

Work with the HEA team to begin building your chapter, recruit students, and establish your leadership team. You don't need to have a team already. You can start on your own and recruit members as you develop your chapter.

3

Get Your Chapter Recognized

Work through your school's requirements for registering or recognizing a student organization. HEA can provide guidance and recommended chapter documents to help you through the process.

Start Making an Impact

Once your chapter is established, you can organize educational programs, health equity initiatives, community events, advocacy activities, and other projects that align with HEA's mission.

What HEA Provides

Chapter Leaders receive support from the HEA Executive Board, along with access to chapter guides, templates, educational programs, event resources, and opportunities to collaborate with other HEA chapters. Chapters may also be eligible to apply for funding through the HEA Initiative Fund for approved initiatives.

You don't need prior leadership experience or an existing team to start. All you need is an interest in improving health equity in your community.
